02 / A way of seeing
I see buildings as selves: individual presences within a society of buildings. Each has an inner life, a way of meeting the world, and something to offer its neighbours.
In Teatro dell’Ego, an empty centre gives the building an inner life. The route begins on the stage, making the visitor both actor and audience; rising levels offer changing perspectives on the same whole. The building’s individuality grows through its relationship with the city around it.

Spaces for retreat and encounter. Light, proportion and movement shape how we feel, reflect and connect.
A building defines its identity through its relationship with the street, the landscape and the lives around it.
As in music, repetition, interval and pause can become a spatial sequence. In Teatro dell’Ego, Verdi’s music informs the architecture.
03 / Between disciplines
Redrawn from the architect’s original music-to-form studies, these diagrams explore how musical relationships become spatial decisions.
Explore Menuet in GThe pace of music is explored through changes in relative architectural scale.
In Menuet, the frequency of each note determines its vertical height along the Y axis.
The original study associates F-sharp with red, giving a musical note a visual expression.
In Menuet, note duration defines the X span, frequency sets the Y height and successive measures advance along Z. The musical sequence becomes a spatial composition.
The original studies also associate timbre with material—piano with glass—and musical intervals with architectural proportion.
Music and architecture share a language of relationships: a note and a silence, a room and its threshold, an individual and a whole. Original compositions and objects explore how rhythm can become form.

04 / The practice
Architect Denislav Sokolov, also known as Deniz Atasoy.
D-Arch is a European architectural design practice with an international perspective, working across buildings, interiors and product design.
The work begins with the character of a place and the people who use it. Concepts, material studies, visualisations and technical development connect a clear architectural idea with the scale of everyday life. The portfolio brings together independent design work and contributions to collaborative projects.

Form follows music.
As you move through the space, corridor becomes feminine, you become the masculine.
Invisible light is hidden in d-archness that ego does not seek.
